JORDAN CROWTHER is returning to York City Knights.

The 19-year-old Wakefield Trinity back-rower played six times on loan for James Ford’s men from early March until the iPro Sport Cup semi-final win on May 1, scoring four tries.

He was then recalled by his parent club and played in their Challenge Cup win over Toulouse - his ninth first-team outing in all - but now comes back to York again on loan, initially for a month.

His arrival follows hot on the heels of that of fellow former England Youth international, half-back Harry Tyson-Wilson, from Hull, also on loan.

He could play in Sunday's League One visit of old foes Hunslet.

Said head coach James Ford: "I'm really pleased to be able to bring him back and thankful to (Wakefield boss) Chris Chester for letting us bring one of their most promising youngsters here again.

"He fitted in incredibly well when he was here and he's been back to see a lot of the games since.

"He wanted to come back and continue his development and hopefully we can help him do that.

"We also needed a couple of reinforcements at this time, with Ross Osbourne going back to Hull and with one or two carrying bumps and bruises after the hectic schedule. This gives us a good opportunity to rotate players if need be."

Asked if he expected Crowther to stay after this initial one-month period, Ford said: "From the impressions I get from Chris Chester, he's certainly in their plans and that doesn't surprise me, so I don't think we'll be keeping him for the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets opportunities in Super League. But he will help us out in the short-term and we're glad he's here."
