JAMES FORD insists York City Knights will not even think about a trip to the Summer Bash in Blackpool - unless they win this weekend's semi-final.

The Knights host Gloucestershire All Golds at Bootham Crescent on Sunday in the iPro Sport League One Cup, the winners of which will meet Keighley or London Skolars in the final to be played during the Bash, the Kingstone Press Championship's equivalent of Magic Weekend.

Ford's men, unbeaten this year barring the Challenge Cup exit at Championship side Dewsbury, are huge favourites against the expansion club, but the head coach says they are not getting ahead of themselves - and are only focusing on playing far better than in last weekend's routine win, but drab second half, against whipping boys South Wales Scorpions.

"We haven't thought about any cup final," he said.

"We're thinking about improving the performance we served up last weekend and preparing as best we can.

"We know this game will be tough. We've got a lot of respect for Gloucestershire All Golds. Lee Greenwood has recruited well and he's a good coach.

"When you start thinking about a final before the semi-final and take your eye off the ball, that's when stuff can catch up on you.

"I'm confident we won't play that way again. Performances like last week's from this squad will be very infrequent.

"It was the best I've seen South Wales play but we ran the game at a canter. We're disappointed we did not demonstrate to people how good we are - we missed an opportunity to further our reputation.

"But overall I'm very pleased with what they're delivering and I'm sure there will be a positive response this week."
