YORK-BORN former York City Knights loose-forward Danny Allan is poised to rejoin rugby league’s professional ranks with Oxford, writes Peter Martini.

Allan, who began his career in Leeds Rhinos’ academy and has also had spells at Doncaster, Featherstone and Hunslet, spent the last summer back at his amateur club, Heworth, in the National Conference League as player/assistant-coach.

The 25-year-old played five games for home-town club York on loan from Featherstone in 2010 before falling out with then boss Dave Woods.

An Oxford spokesman said nothing was yet signed and sealed but that talks had been “very positive”.

Meanwhile, Oxford’s danger-man this year, full-back Sean Morris, a former rugby union Blue at Oxford University and England Under-18s international in the 15-a-side code, has signed a one-year full-time deal with London Broncos.
