BEN REYNOLDS has become the latest York City Knights ace to be named the Kingstone Press Championship One Player of the Week.

The dual-registration starlet, returning to the York line-up after his appearance for parent club Castleford the week before, was a key figure in Saturday's 48-10 victory at South Wales Scorpions which lifted the Knights back to the top of the table.

Reynolds has now made seven appearances for the Knights, five of them at full-back, but this time he went in at half-back and ended with a 16-point haul and The Press man-of-the-match award.

Knights coach Gary Thornton said: “Ben is equally at home at full-back or stand-off, but to come in at number six and do what he did against South Wales shows his versatility and that he is up to the challenge.

"He was instrumental in everything we did, and he scored a try kicked a few goals.

"He's part of our squad as far as I'm concerned. He's a very big part of what we hope to achieve this year."

Four other York players were named in the league's Team of the Week - hat-trick hero Ben Dent, player/assistant-coach James Ford, who bagged a brace on his return from injury, prop Brad Brennan and Ryan Backhouse, who was given his first start in the second row.

Previous Knights aces to be named Player of the Week include Pat Smith, James Haynes and Jonny Presley.

Meanwhile, Halifax's York-born former Knights back-rower Ross Divorty was named in the Championship Team of the Week after bagging four tries in Fax's 42-24 win over Rochdale.
