YORK City Knights opened their Kingstone Press Championship One campaign with a 26-16 home win over Gloucestershire All Golds.
The hosts led 16-6 at half-time at Huntington Stadium, but the sides were locked at 16-16 heading into the last ten minutes.
Late tries from Pat Smith and Jason Golden sealed victory for the Knights, who are aiming to bounce straight back up to the Championship after last season's relegation.
The other try scorers for Gary Thornton's men were Ben Dent, Jake Joynt and Benn Hardcastle, who also kicked three goals.
