A crashing 13-shot defeat for leaders Brondesbury against Roundwood Park allowed Hendon A to go top of the Wednesday Division of the Crown Honda Challenge indoor bowls competition.

The Roundwood Park trio of the Dickens pair and Charlie Mays surprised Brondesbury beating them 17 - 4 and Hendon A took full advantage of the slip to take top spot.

Their team of Ernie Joyce, Lily Comley and Mary Herold helped them to a resounding 28-4 victory over Pinner B.

Harrow Weald remain in contention. Their trio of Margery Buchanan, John Venning and George Smith pipped other title hopefuls Stanmore 14 - 11.

North Greenford A lost ground with a 11 - 17 defeat against Ken Johnson's lowly Lupton A.

North Greenford E gave one of the best performances in the Friday Division holding unbeaten leaders Glaxo to a 11-11 draw. An excellent take out bowl from Glaxo skipper Sam Stack on the last end saved their unbeaten record.

Wembley moved into second place with their sixth consecutive victory. Nancy and Ron Ferrari and Geoff Smith ensured full points with a 15 shot margin over Bill Williams' North Greenford D (21- 6).

In another close match, David Dale's Century A beat Hendon B by one shot 8-7.
