  • "Thank god this season and the Wembley circus are over.

Anyone who thinks York City should be proud of thelselves for losing at Wembley is in a strange world. Lets not forget if Levi Mackins penalty against Kidderminster had been half a yard further right we'd have got knocked out before the quarter-finals, we got very, very lucky and losing 2-0 to Stevenage sums up how bad this seasons been.

I've been watching City all my life and take no pride in today, outclassed by Stevenage Borough, no thanks."

City fans' initial reaction to defeat

Dejected York City fans are making their way back north after seeing their team lose 2-0 in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

The Minstermen went down to two second half goals by pre-match favourites Stevenage Borough.

As fans left the ground many said they were disappointed but proud nonetheless.

Among them was Neil Haw, 42, of Huntington, York. He said: "It's a shame the second half ended up so disappointingly. The first half was a credit to York. I'm glad York got here anyway."

Another fan, George Payne, 14, of Holgate, York said: "City gave it their heart and they definitely did well to get this far given their league performance. Wembley is magnificent."
