YORK City Knights player-boss Paul March says everyone at Huntington Stadium is behind York City’s bid to bring sporting success to the city.

March might be a self-confessed Leeds United fan, but he has been keeping track of the Minstermen’s bid for FA Trophy glory via The Press’s website, thepress.co.uk, and, given that his side have a weekend off in Championship One, he will be keeping a close eye on events at Wembley tomorrow.

March also believes that, although City will go under the famous arch as underdogs, anything can happen in a one-off final.

Said the former Super League star: “It’s massive for the city. They’re expecting 15,000 people to go so they’re getting great support. It’s showing that once the good times come to York, people in the city support the team.

“That’s what we’re trying to do at York City Knights as well. We wish them all the best and hopefully they will wish us all the best for our season as well.”

Stevenage go into the game as big favourites, having finished the Blue Square Premier season in fifth, whereas City were down in 17th.

March said: “It’s going to be a tough game but it’s one game, a one-off. It’s about who turns up on the day. “People from York want them to bring the trophy back and hopefully the players who take the field will do that.”
