AN army vehicle mechanic has won a competition to find the best Royal Electrical and Mechanical engineer in the south of England. Lance Corporal John Mountford, from Sydenham, and his volunteer team mates from the Light Aid Detachment of 71 Signals Regiment were put through their paces at Longmoor camp in Hampshire. The team persevered and excelled through a series of challenges designed to test both military skills and professional trade knowledge which is expected to be the same high standard as that of the Regular Army. The team came top in the March and Shoot phase and also won the "Best Light Aid Detachment Cup.
