YORK City in the Community will take their free football coaching to schools in Thirsk, Knaresborough and Selby next season after being provided with a new car.

Hatfields York in Nether Poppleton have donated a York City-branded Hyundai Tuscan for the community team's dedicated use.

About the gesture, City communications and community director Sophie McGill said: "The car will make a big difference as it will allow our coaches to travel more extensively in North Yorkshire. We were able to provide free football coaching to 42 schools in York in the past year and now we will be able to target areas further afield such as Selby, Knaresborough and Thirsk."

General manager of Hatfields York, Graeme Bailey, added: "We believe the work York City do in the community is very important and we are delighted to be assisting their positive initiatives with local children."

Hy?

I'm just relieved that the York City in the Community lads are better at their jobs than the (clearly desperate) Press subeditors are at theirs!

I'm not surprised at Nicky Wroe. He spent most of the time moaning at his colleagues and had a permanent disgruntled look on his face for the latter part of the season. Never mind, he wasn't half the player he thought he was.

gutted about wroe thought he was going to be a big player for us next season, nice bit of loyalty when we paid out £3000 for an op for him few month back, cant see us getting much of a fee for him either unfortunately

Shame about wroe but clearly hearts not with the club, plent of other good midfielders without a club as good or if not better then Wroe, the lad who played on the wing for Northwich was a class act ex man untd trainee Jimmy ...

Exactly Be,Scotland.Plenty of players to choose from at this time of the year.
He isn't worth dwelling on or getting upset about.

It is a little concerning that he's suddenly decided he doesn't want to play for us - what the hell has bought that on?

I agree with several above, his departure is not a huge blow and I believe Walker was already looking for two midfield grafters.

And as for the £3,000 for an op, that is standard stuff for a football club. YCFC have just added that in because they are annoyed at the player.
