Tom Evans, Darren Craddock and Stuart Elliott have all been told they will be released by York City as Colin Walker begins his preparations for next season.

The trio have been informed they will not be offered new deals and will leave the club after the final Blue Square Premier match of the season at Salisbury City on Saturday.

Evans, 31, has made 46 appearances for the Minstermen this season but has struggled with his form and lost his place for a spell in September, when he was replaced by on-loan Bristol City 'keeper Stephen Henderson.

Darren Craddock, 23, has made 31 appearances and seven as a substitute and has played at both full back and centre-half in the Minstermen's 3-5-2 formation.

Elliott, 30, has appeared in 41 league and cup games and five as a substitute, scoring three times including spectacular goals in both league fixtures with Stafford Rangers.

Such an important point, it had to be made twice!

I personally think that's unfair Steve.
I don't think Elliott is lazy, he's just not up to the pace a full-time game anymore.
And he'd be less annoying if he just did nothing. His problem is he tries to do too much. Over-complicates when it needs to be played simple.

Agree with most of the comments that Mr Walker has got it stop on, Evans is so unpredictable it's untrue. Elliot is past it and needs to stop thinking he's Beckham. Craddock again just doesn't make the grade.

Hopefully we'll be seeing the back of Lloyd/Robbo to cut the wages down and with McWilliams and Shep coming through I believe it's the right thing to do.

A new Keeper, Centerhalf partner for TY, center-midfielder to command games and a striker who constantly knows where the net is.

How amusing - LOL I think the young ones say these days -young ones have some **** abbreviations don't they?. I personally agree with Colin that these players are not likely to take us forward next year so - good luck to them - but goodbye. On the comments -well you can tell there has been a teachers strike today and Dick from Year 1 -you've had your fun but it's for bed time now son!

last comment on Mr dick..

Heres an idea for you Mr Dick..
If you own a cycle go and remove the seat to expose the stem it sits on.
Go into the street and remove your pants, engage a standing position on the aforementioned bike and petal as fast as you can.
when reaching a fast speed sit down hard on the stem inserting it into your anus.
Move side to side up and down until you scream with excitement.
This way you will receive the obvious attention you crave in life, leaving us to talk sense on this forum.
I think Colin as it right this time.

I have a request for people on this site - PLEASE IGNORE Peter Dick as he is either a wind-up merchant or mentally unstable! We need sensible comments backed up with sound arguments, if we ignore Dick maybe he'll go away?

In full agreement with most comments on here, the 3 released weren't good enough and we wouldn't go forward as a club with them. We need a midfield general and to stop conceding silly goals mainly from set-pieces, then we'll challenge properly and get back to the promised land again. I can't believe I'm calling the likes of Bury and Rochdale the promised land but there you go. City4ever!!!

Peter Dick, you have got to be someone who's thought i'll go and register on that site and have a laugh by trying to wind up YCFC fans with some outragous comments!! I agree Jaycee, it has made this aft abit more interesting! Haha!

Hopefully the next trio to be released will be Brodie, Sodje and Wroe - these players are woeful and wouldn't even look good in a village pub team. Elliot should be kept, he was out midfield linch pin. Just shows that Walker and most of the fans are completely clueless.
I take it you don't go watch City then?

This news comes as no surprise, while both Craddock and Elliott have given their all they cannot be retained if the squad is going to be smaller for next season. Evans was a shadow of the 'keeper from the play-off campaign, his loss of confidence spread to the back four and that is something you cannot afford to have. Walker must now search hard for a quality keeper because it is too much to ask Mimms to be the number one next season.

in 1999, I saw Stuart Elliot play 3 games for Hartlepool when I was opening up a business there - he was magnificent, better than any player I have ever seen in Europe or Chile. This season, he has showed glimpses of this and it is a big mistake to release him - you watch - next season he will be fantastic for the team that gets him.

Don't be vile. That kind of comment is not justified.
Peter, I would love to hear your explanation of why Sodje should go, he has shown on several occasions he has the ability to play at a higher level or at the least the Scottish Premier League.

Light weight, small, bad left foot, no speed (apart from when facing old lumbering centre backs) and he's just not right for us.

Evans form this season is a thousand miles apart from last season, very disappointing with his performances but certainly its a thanks and best of luck in the future from Gladis.

Mr Dick, you must come on here to get a reaction as your comments are clearly a wind up, or if you are serious, you do live up to your name as you talk utter sh1te pal. Well done Col for shifting out the dead wood, Evans has been a liability all year, Elliott and Craddock will probably end up at Gateshead with the other rejects. Sodje Wroe and Brodie have shown the potential to develop and will improve further next year. We need signings from the football league and not from teams like Gainsborough if we are to make the play-off's next year.
Hang on a minute Fergie. I think you talk utter sh1te too. In MY Opinion, Sodje, Brodie and Wroe are woeful. Wroe has no class unlike Elliot - Elliot has the presence in our midfield to take teams apart.

Childish fool.

Billy Mac would have turned this club back round - they only sacked him because he cost too much and what with the massive rise in fuel costs, the Board's 4 by 4's were getting expensive to run so they had to save somewhere.

No chance - Brodie was awful at the start but has put in some good performances of late -I admit I wanted him out earlier in season but he is a promising youngster who I should have given more time to - keep Brodie, we've got to.

b0llocks will Brodie go. He's clearly a golden boy in the club, and hopefully we'll see a bit more of why that is next season. I think he's come on in leaps and bounds over the past four months, and he's still a kid- so there's plenty of scope for improvement

I don't agree with Elliot going he has been the only one who does anything a bit hit and miss I agree but always there as a proper midfielder when needed and not tackle shy like others. Manny going to Bradford heard the same.
Any thoughts?

They are the 3 we have been pushing to see and its good see Walker has the same view of the fans !!

Leaves us with many young players now, but they will be a season older come August, we now need to look for a goalie and a central midfielder !

No surprises here then, but I hope he has someone in mind to replace Tom Evans - I don't think Josh Mimms is quite ready to step up to first team football quite yet.

Craddock is a liability on the field with his disciplinery record, many sendings off could have been avoided.

newshawk, York says...
12:47pm Thu 24 Apr 08

All three highly predictable. What lies behind this rumour of Manny going to Bradford? Manny seems to be at the limit of his game where he is and McCall seems to be resigning their lads to reduced terms so I cannot imagine that he'd have too much to offer to a square passing midfielder
