York City sign midfielder John McReady

YORK City have today unveiled Darlington midfielder John McReady as their latest close season signing.

The 19-year-old put pen to paper on a contract with the npower League Two newcomers at Bootham Crescent this morning.

Dont know a great deal about this lad other than he had a decent season at Darlo last year by all accounts but hes only 19 so should progress well under GM. Welcome to an ambitious club on the up John, hope you do well for us.

Don't know much about this lad, other than a good write-up about him in the Northern Echo earlier this week, when it was confirmed we were talking to him and that Darlo were not going to let him go for nothing!! Sounds like a good one for the future under the tutorage of GM! Welcome John to York City, and hoping you do very well with us!

This young lad impressed me when he played against us (and scored) when we drew 2-2 at Darlington. Due to Darlingtons plight he was pushed rather quickly into their first team, and this experience will benefit him. He likes to play as a attacking midfielder. At just 19 years of age he is definately a long term investment.

Apparently he was only at Darlington 1883 for 4 days. Presumably no fee then since he never actually made his debut for them. :)

can only see him going there for money he would have been one of the frist names on the team sheet at york

this lad ran the show against us in January, he was fantastic and was one of the only players that Kerr and Paddy just couldn't contain.
I remember saying to a few fellas around me how good he looked, a great signing.

BBC website reporting McReady was signed on a free transfer... hopefully this is true and therefore more kitty left for Smith and Connoll.

Coulson signs.

Even with the recent exit of Moke and Meredith, this is turning into a very good day!
