One-year deal for former Minsterman

YORK City have signed former Minsterman Lee Bullock.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who made 171 appearances for City between 1998 and 2004 before joining Cardiff City, has signed a one-year deal back at Bootham Crescent.

It is understood that Bullock, who also played for Hartlepool, Bury and latterly Bradford City, is seen as one of the prime contenders for a midfield holding role back at his first club.

Welcome back Lee, I was always impressed with your stile of play plus you always had a eye for goal. On another note I saw Ashley Chambers walking into Phones 4u in Selby today.

I would guess that means Brown might be off, if we have Kerr and Bullock as holding players (plus the rather effective fall-back option of Danny Parslow)? I always like getting former players back, lets hope he can do what Smithy did for us.

Bullock in as CDM, Coulson as AMF of winger(hopefully), Musclewhite as GK cover. Still need a goal scorer (consistent).

Are we gonna splash any cash on transfer fee's or rely on out of contracts.

Theres some good talent in league 2, maybe we could poach a few from the conference!!!

In mills we trust!

he's definately been brought in to cover for Kerr who I believe is out until October??
will be fantastic to give him a standing ovation when he runs out at BC for his first game back, an honest pro who always gave 100%.
can't believe he's only 31 by the way?! has he been going to the Obafemi Martins school of birth certificates???

We need another option in the central striking role. Someone like Paul Aimson for those who remember him. Good in the air and could score with both feet. Not easy to find unless we splash the cash. I have great faith in Gary Mills.

Lee Bullock has vast Football League experience. If he can stay clear of injuries, I am sure that he will do a decent job for us.

Please don't look at what Tips Says says GM. When that oaf left us for Macclesfield and scored against us on Easter Sunday... a defeat which pretty much relegated us to the conference... the fat so and so ran up to supporters kissing his badge. Zero class and not much more talent imo. Welcome back Lee btw! Kerr and Bullock would boss most games if Scotty can get back to his best....

I couldn't disagree more. Lee was outstanding as a young player at York and has played his whole career in the football league for a reason. However, his main attribute was his stamina so hopefully any energy lost through age will be more than made up by experience. He's the same age as Scott Kerr.

I heard last season that Lee has wanted to come back to the club for a while so he obviously has York City at heart.

I'll go with Gary Mills opinion on this one.

Quite right duffy because thats where we should aim to be in our 1st season back in the league, any higher would be a bonus.

Chris Beardsley another ex player released by Stevenage it seems my comments on Parkin stirred some comments but Beardsley a big strong lad who GM may consider just depends on what happens with Blinkhorn and the lad who was loaned to Forest Green

Should provide good cover for Kerr until he's fit, but don't think its an inspirational signing. Has got lots of league experience which is a bonus, but don't forget he was part of a Bradford side that only survived relegation in the last 5 games of the season. I am very close to a Bradford season ticket holder who has told me they are not sorry to see him go. Hope he can have a great second spell with us.

Contracts usually expire on 30 June of each year, so we'll get to know soon. We need to remember that fees do not guarantee quality or success - remember McDermott and Gash, possibly one of the most apathetic players I have witnessed in 40+ years of watching football in the UK and Europe!

Remember watching City at Darlo December 2003. Shocking.
Got beat 3 nil. Think all over by half time and the police dogs had greeted us. Horrible trip.

Chris Smith, Jon Shaw, Lee Bullock and Jon Parkin all featured that day.

Have a word with yourself, he has been bagging goals wherever he has been remember Burton etc He is a welcome addition to anyones squad especially if played in a 442 which is my only worry with this possible signing.

As for ex players coming back, who cares welcome them like any new signing. Mills would have done his homework so cut them some slack. I for one would love to see the massive Parkin back at the club (Shame we cant afford him right now) someone of his size ability and experience for front or back would agai be a welcome acquisition. Forget the past and look to the future guys!

Parkin was lazy at City and it annoyed me when he was a sub just messing around on the field at half time.Never prolific because he is short on effort so can't see GM even considering him. Welcome back Lee Bullock a 100% player and good addition. Not sure about whether Shaw can cut it with City-when on loan here he was poor.Last seasons achievements prove GM knows what he is doing-leave it to him and trust him.We will have an exciting season and consolidate in our first year in League 2.

well i for one rated bullock when he was with us before, but it does beg the question what is he like now having been released by bradford who have been flirting with the bottom of league 2 the last two seasons,as for parkin i can understand the comment regarding his celebration at scoring against us when he came back with macclesfield but c,mon get real a former player getting stick from his former fans and bangs in a goal he,s gonna give some stick back, in between some real nightmares parkin was a massive influence both up front and playing in the back four when needed but its not relevant as we can,t afford him anyway,as for Shaw yeah he was a dead loss when first at york but he was a young lad then seems to have been pretty decent in recent years.

could do worse than try to get a couple of loanees from Hull, now Bruce is boss he wont have a use for Mark Cullen (too small) and maybe Liam Cooper, both could do a really good job at this level, and they'd be fairly cheap wages wise.
