Former York City player Andre Boucaud expected to miss out on Wembley showdown

FORMER York City midfielder Andre Boucaud is expected to play no part in tomorrow’s Wembley showdown with his old club.

Boucaud, who completed a £25,000 move from Bootham Crescent to Luton Town in January, has not featured in any of the Hatters’ squads for the last six games and is well out of favour as manager Paul Buckle decides on his 16-strong party for the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final.

The Trinidad & Tobago international started in Buckle’s first match in charge – a 3-1 defeat at Braintree last month – but a 60th-minute outing as a substitute during the 0-0 draw at Alfreton on April 14 was his last involvement under the ex-Torquay boss.

Boucaud, 27, was used equally economically by previous chief Gary Brabin and he has only started four matches and made seven appearances in total for the Bedfordshire team.

Luton will, however, include two former Minstermen who are considered integral to their chances of success.

Midfielder Alex Lawless played in 38 of the Hatters’ 46 league games during the regular season while on-loan centre-back Janos Kovacs figured in 37.

Kovacs, though, has netted four times in 2011/12 with Lawless hitting the target just twice.

The latter is unlikely to be joined by Godfrey Poku in midfield as he is struggling to shake off injury, while Buckle also released winger Charlie Henry, right-back Ed Asafu-Adjaye and midfielder Christian Tavernier once the club’s league programme had been completed.

Injury-plagued striker Amari Morgan-Smith is, however, set to make the bench despite having not played a game since January 25 before the play-offs began.

The former Stockport striker did manage a combined total of 12 minutes as a substitute over the two semi-final legs against Wrexham and, having netted nine times in 17 appearances this term, is considered too potent an option to leave out of the squad.
