well then duffy.....your wish is granted!
seen this guy play a few times and her certainly doesn't take any prisoners. I wonder who's going to lose their place with him brought in.
welcome Chris, help lead us to the promised land of league 2!

Glad to see that Mr Mills has been listening to me ;o)

Hopefully this guy's experience will bring some stability to our defence and thus help bring out the best in the lads around him.

I have been reading his history, he has been around a bit. He has had trials with a few football league clubs this season, without getting taken on. But of course we will just have to wait and see if he is going to be any improvement on what we already have.

eborexile says...

Not sure how significant this signing will prove to be as I don't know much about the lad. Obeng from Wrexham to Swansea may however be pivotal.

I think we've strengthened prudently and added the right mix of experience and vigour.

Can we now get behind whoever pulls on our shirt and recognise that goals against are a team issue just as most goals for.

Bring on the rest of the season!

Good signing and just what the Doctor and Duffy ordered.

IMO we needed another centre half some one with a decent playing background. Doig looks fine to me and hopefully he will be a presence in both area's.

eborexile has hit the nail on the head. it's now Feb 1st and that's it, we've got 3 months of the season left, lets get behind each player 100% and roar the lads to a play-off spot.
there's no point in us turning up if we don't give the players as much effort as they give for the shirt, and each one in this squad gives 110%.

Yes lets keep on the roller coaster and urge the lads and the management on in both competitions with loud vocal support.

Well some more depth certainly, personally once the pitches get back to their playable best I'd still like to see a McGurk/Fyfield partnership in there, supports our playing style...

These are exciting signings! I especially look forward to watching the Norweigan guy play, sounds pretty good to me.

Maybe we could move Danny P. back to right-back, and push Challinor into midfield (in Boucauds place)?

I agree with you that these two defenders are the best in the middle.

Strengthened the squad, moved on a player who hasn't been performing recently and now brought in some more competition for the back... all in all a good/promising few days.

Now, who's going to Grimsby? 3 points here could really push us onwards and upwards and the lads will need all of us behind them.

That will be me then and I stand by my comments.

The board have simply used some of the money from the sale and wages of Boucard to pay the wages of a loan player and 2 others signed for 3 months. Hardly backing the manager but if it gets us out of this league then great.

Liked I said it wouldn't of surprised me to see anyone of Blair, Paddy, McGurk or even Walker sold yesterday! IMO

If Bates was chairman GM would have been sacked for not getting the team in the top 2! Fortunately he's not and Jason is and supporting the Manager, the team and the club. The new signings sound promising and Boucaud seemed to have lost interest so won't be missed much.Very adequate others to fill midfield spots and Jason back soon. The future looks good. The future is City! Come on.

YCFC115 has his issues with the board but in the absence of someone with very deep pockets IMO we have a very good manager working within a decent budget for the conference.
Some of our managers signings have not quite worked out but on the whole they have & we are getting bodies in as most posters on here have called for. But given the football we have been enjoying in general very good progress. It will be good to see what the new players have to offer but lets not forget our forgotten men waiting in the squad Potts must be overdue a run out.
Cmon City!!

Totally agree and have full faith with the manager, that was in question.

What on earth has Leeds and Bates got to do with YCFC?? Besides the similarities in the way they run their respective football clubs, in total secrecy - IMO.

What we do have now is a few players that look out of the picture, Pilkington, Ashikodi, Moke, Chambers, Potts Parslow/ Fyfield could all be in contention for a loan move out. Very happy to see a left sided player coming in by the way which was needed. I think he has now covered the areas that needed strengthening.

Millsy pulls one from the hat.

Would be surprised if it was in response to any calls from here or elsewhere.

And even if it was, at least he listened.

As for the possibility of replacing Mills, I think it would be a case of him leaving to go somewhere else first.

Whether we go up or not we should want him here next season too - if he wants to stay.

Of course I'm serious. I'm not saying Mills read my postings and signed him based on that, even my heads not that big. I'm simply stating that I feel we need a commanding centre half and Mills feels we need a commanding centre half.
We both feel the same way.

let's not get too carried away here with high expectations - remember Greg Young who came with similar playing credentials. He also has had little match practice in the last 2 years, if Wiki is to be beleived, and has not been taken up by either Northampton or Aldershot, 2 teams near the bottom of League 2 and therefore inferior teams to York. Nevertheless he must have something given his appearances previously for Forest and Northampton and GM knows him. I suspect he will not be playing until he proves his fitness and when he does I hope he does well, otherwise another bout of Duffy misery.

He obviously won't start straight away but given we already have some would say four centre halves looks to be here to play that commanding captain role alongside I hope McGurk. Of course he could be a flop as any player can but at least Mills seems to have realised we do indeed need an organiser it's a step in the right direction. I will of course inform him if I'm not happy.

How can you say the board haven't supported the manager? He was allowed to rebuild a team in the summer spending realtively large amounts on Walker & Banjo and had to pay compensation to Kiddy for Blair. Just because we can't buy our way out of the league like Fleetwood you're having a go at the board.

Plus I think only getting Swallow for three months is a good idea as we can offer him a contract if we want to keep him and if someone else gets him we get compensation under football regulations! So all good in my opinion!

Jason McGill has backed Gary Mills admirably IMO all the time he has been in charge. The same with Martin Foyle too.

Well here is a team for Saturday.

Ingham, Challinor, TY, Doig, Tonne, (those last three will not happen) Brown, Kerr, Paddy, Blair, Walker, Swallow.

Some not included in the above need a kick up the a*se and dropping from the team.

I can not understand some people who posts comments on this site.
All week they have been shouting for 'new signings' - we sign two mid-fielder/wide men - questions are ask 'why - we need a central defender'. Question marks over Gary's actions and failure to listen to comments and the board. The deadline was 11pm - 31st January - deals take time. Before the deadline Gary signs a central defender - still not happy - not good enough - not an international or well known. We are a conference club with a wage structure set. You just can't please some people. do we want to end up like Kettering-Darlington - we know what that's like. Thank you Mr Craig and friends
We don't have a multi-millionaire to pump money into the club like Fleetwood and Crawley last term. We have a fantastic Chairman - who rescued the club - he's a true supporter of the club - we should be thanking him and fully supporting him.
The club will not make a trading profit this season - as last season we will make a loss - who picks up this loss - Jason McGill and family. We have a playing budget, Gary is expected to work within this - to sell Boucs and bring in three is good business. The Chairman has allowed Gary to use the £25K to bring in these players - he could have just pocketed the £25K to reduce 'his' losses at the end of the season. Up to now the signings Gary has made have been excellent - admired by most teams in Conference - we have scouts at the games every week - we must have players worth watching.
I noticed an article in the Non League paper last weekend - no loans to help clubs next year - how's that going to affect our playing budget? Looks as if it could be reduced by £300K - £400K. We must get out of this league - the play offs plus the Trophy would really help the cause. Average crowds of 3500 - 4000 would also help.
Lets get behind Jason McGill, Gary Mills and the team for the final push to get out of this league before we end up with playing budget similar to Harrogate - or going part-time - that's the next step. FACT

There's no way all 3 new signings will come in straight away. Why make wholesale changes to a team that's lost just once in 19? Chris Smith is sure to start and rightly so. Time will tell if the new players are better than those we have but they will have to earn their places in the side as there was already plenty of quality here confirmed by our position in the league. Can't be a bad thing to have a bit more cover though.

Looks to be a good signing and probably with the experience and ability to be placed straight into the side. Also, Tonne and Swallow won't want to be sat around on the subs bench knowing that as loanees/till the end of the season players, they only have three months(initially) at the club and so, they too should be fired-up wanting to show what they can do. Competition for a starting place should motivate the full squad, as one or two of them have been looking a bit jaded of late and we needed some fresh legs! Redwhiteblue's comments are spot-on and needed to be said - now is the time for all supporters and fans to get fully behind the players, manager and all others connected with the running of the club and lets all push on for success and promotion when the prizes are dished-out in April and May!!

Lets get one thing straight, Jason McGill DID NOT save the club all on his own. Has everyone forgot the efforts of the trust, bucket collections and so called "bond" scheme? McGill came to the table late on with CLP money and with a huge interest rate return. He is in a win, win situation and not a knight in shining armour or pink feathers like some might like to think!

It was in response to those unfortunate city fans suffering from alzheimer's.

Believe it or not I enjoy being a city fan even in our current position, love the football being played under GM besides the odd defensive mistakes. What I can't stand is reading some of the Jason McGill fan club who contribute to this forum.
