STRIKER Jason Walker could return to York City action as early as Saturday’s FA Trophy third round tie against Ebbsfleet United.
Manager Gary Mills said the 15-goal leading scorer was “lively” when playing 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Middlesbrough yesterday.
Getting his first competitive action following eight weeks out with a torn groin, Walker scored a first minute penalty as City lost 3-1 and Mills has not ruled out a possible role for him at Bootham Crescent at the weekend.
“It was good. He did well and we will see how we go this week,” he said. “He was looking lively.”
When asked whether he could be in the squad for Saturday’s match at Bootham Crescent, Mills added: “Possibly. His return is a boost, not just for Saturday, but for the remaining games and, hopefully, to get us to Wembley in the play-off and Trophy finals.”
