York City striker Jason Walker on road to recovery

Jason Walker Jason Walker

YORK City top scorer Jason Walker is back in training after a six-week lay-off with groin problems.

Walker has not featured for the Minstermen since the FA Trophy replay victory over Solihull Moors a fortnight before Christmas but, having missed the last seven matches, is closing in on a playing return.

The former Luton and Barrow forward, who has netted 15 times this season, will not be considered for tomorrow’s trip to Darlington but should be back in action next month.

On his recovery, City boss Gary Mills said: “Jason will train with us for the first time today.

“He came through a real stern fitness test yesterday, which is good news because the injury’s gone on longer than we thought it would. It’s a massive boost to have him back because we are approaching a very important time in the season.”

I hope Mills doesn't just change things around to suit Walker again as soon as he is fit. I think he needs a couple of subs appearances first as well as a couple of behind closed door friendlies.
A great talent to bring off the bench but should not get straight back in just on his reputation.
I would keep going the way we are for the time being and bring him on if things are going wrong until he is fully fit and bedded back in.

Good news for Jason, the club and the supporters. Hopefully he can turn draws into wins for us. Good luck on your return Jason.

Agree with Bartsimmo. He needs to be brought in gently. At the moment Blinkhorn is coming off the bench and doing well for us.
The Trophy game might be ideal to have Jason on the bench and let him stretch his legs in the second half.
At least it will now keep Reed,Blinkhorn and Ashikodi on their toes! They will have to fight for their places.

It would be good to see him return for the Grimsby game with another overhead kick and goal against them?! They won't fancy been up against him again! If we can get him back into the groove in the next couple of weeks and he stays fit and in good form for the remainder of the season, then that might be the difference over whether or not we gain promotion come April/May!

funny he got injured just before the window started & hey presto could be back next week when its closed makes you wonder if he was ever injured at all another master stroke by GM i think

I would have him back in just as soon as he is deemed fit enough. We don't have another centre forward even close to his quality. He has been badly missed.

thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever seen on here!

why would any sane manager fake injury upon their 15 goal striker for over a month, when he still could be sold injured or not?

he clearly had torn his groin, and i think mills has the balls to reject any offer that came in for him!

walker been out could have hurt us a lot harder than it did, and i highly doubt mills would have taken such a ridiulous risk as to sitting him out for a month when we are playing tough games, just so nooone bids for him!

this isnt a personal comment or anything like that , just one that clears up any confusion fellow supporters are experiencing, as ive heard this rumour going round off more than yourself!
