CRISIS club Cheltenham Town will visit York having hit rock bottom for the first time in their 15-year Football League history.

Since their Conference-winning title campaign of 1999 under Steve Cotterill, the Robins have never propped all other 91 League members but last weekend’s 3-0 home defeat to Plymouth saw them fill that position.

It has prompted the club to turn to a fourth different manager this season with ex-Yeovil chief Gary Johnson appointed on Monday following on from the reigns of Mark Yates, Paul Buckle and Russell Milton.

Johnson takes over with the team two points from safety and having won only one of their last 15 games – a 2-0 triumph over second-bottom Tranmere at the end of February.

Away from Whaddon Road, meanwhile, Cheltenham have only won once in more than five months – a 2-1 triumph at Oxford on January 3.

Since then, the Robins have collected only three points from a possible 21 on their travels.

Byron Harrison, meanwhile, remains the team’s top scorer this term with seven goals despite leaving for Chesterfield at the end of January.

Second-leading marksman Terry Gornell, with five goals, also departed for Accrington.

But Johnson will, at least, be able to call upon the services of on-loan, four-goal Bristol City winger Wes Burns after he missed last weekend’s loss due to a Wales Under-21s call-up.

Centre-backs Troy Brown and Will Packwood will return to the fold too.

Brown has completed a two-match ban for his tenth yellow card of the season, while on-loan Birmingham defender Packwood is back from international duty with USA U23s.

Teenage striker Shaq McDonald, who is on loan from Derby, will be hoping to feature against his old club after being released by City last summer having failed to make a first-team appearance during his four months at Bootham Crescent.

McDonald made his Football League debut as a 70th-minute substitute on Saturday and will be hoping to oust either Mathieu Manset of Shaun Harrad, a pair who have gone 22 and 17 games respectively since finding the net.

Cheltenham (probable): Carson; Mills, Brown, Packwood; Vaughan, Hanks, M Richards, Braham-Barrett; Burns; Harrad, Manset.
