TRANMERE Rovers might have used 42 players this season but Micky Adams is expecting to name an unchanged line-up for a fourth successive fixture when they visit York City.

That would mean only three members of the first XI that faced the Minstermen on the opening day of the campaign will make the starting line-up for the return fixture – goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams, leading marksman Max Power and right-back Danny Holmes.

Defensive pair Marcus Holness and Michael Ihiekwe, who both featured during that August afternoon on the Wirral, are missing due to a knee injury and ankle ligament damage respectively.

However, the rest of the changes have been by choice with Adams lifting the club four places up the table from rock bottom in mid-October after taking over from Rob Edwards.

Under Adams, Tranmere have displayed mid-table form and currently sit three positions and two points above their hosts tomorrow.

Aside from Holness and Ihiekwe, left-back Matt Hill is also sidelined due to an Achilles problem, while striker Cole Stockton remains doubtful after missing Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Newport through injury.

Sierra Leone international winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie and midfielder James Rowe, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser against the Minstermen at Prenton Park, will play no part either, having been placed on the transfer list.

Former Wales international Jason Koumas, meanwhile, is expected to be on the bench.

The 35-year-old midfielder has not started a game since Adams’ first in charge – a 2-0 defeat at Oxford.

Power, 21, tops the club’s goal chart this term with seven despite failing to net in his last eight league games since a 1-0 win at Dagenham on December 13.

At the other end of the pitch, Rovers’ record of 17 goals conceded on their travels is the best in the bottom half of the League Two table and fewer than the tally shipped by second-placed Burton.

Last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Carlisle was also only Tranmere’s second loss in 11 league contests – the other a 2-0 reverse at Burton.

Tranmere (probable): Fon Williams, Holmes, Dugdale, Thomp - son, Taylor, Myrie-Williams, Power, Molyneux, Jennings, Ojejayi.
