YORK City chairman Jason McGill says one more player could arrive at the club during the January transfer window.

Speaking following the capture of striker Emile Sinclair on a free transfer, McGill said chiefs at Bootham Crescent were looking at a "specific position" identified by manager Russ Wilcox.

But he said it was unlikely that there would be any further moves for other players before the window shuts on February 2.

When asked about those forays, McGill said: "Maybe one, in a specific position that Russ has identified, but I think it will be one more. I don't think there will be any more after that."

On the signature of Sinclair, who has joined the club on an 18-month contract, McGill added: "I was down the route of looking at two other strikers but I got a phone call from Emile's representative on Monday and jumped at the chance.

"It was only very recently that I was asking another chief executive at a football club about Emile Sinclair - that was four days ago - and then I got the phone call, which was very fortuitous, so we have decided to go with Emile.

"I am delighted. He has got pace and power and I think that's what we need up the top end."

He added: "We wanted something a little bit different. We've brought in players down the spine of the team - Bobby (Olejnik) in goal, Stephane (Zubar) at centre-half as well - so it is about strengthening that spine.

We looked up top and we needed something a bit different and I think Emile brings different qualities to the strikers that we have got at the moment."
