A DECISION on whether York City stalwart Dan Parslow extends his loan stay at Grimsby or makes a permanent move to Blundell Park will be made early next week.

City boss Russ Wilcox is also refusing to rule out a return to Bootham Crescent for the former two-time Press Player of the Year ahead of tomorrow's home match with Plymouth.

Parslow, who arrived in North Yorkshire from Cardiff in August 2006, has not played for City since suffering cruciate ligament damage more than 13 months ago.

He initially joined Grimsby in September and, after returning to the Minstermen briefly following Wilcox's appointment as manager, resumed his loan spell in November.

Parslow has made 17 appearances for the promotion-chasing Mariners, who currently sit fourth in the Conference standings.

Commenting on the 29-year-old utility man's situation, Wilcox said: "We will be making a decision on Dan after this weekend. Grimsby aren't playing but we will make a phone call on Monday to decide how we proceed.

"It's important to see where we are after Saturday's game before we make any decisions because things change very quickly in football and you never know what might happen. We lost Brad (Halliday) and Diego (De Girolamo) for the last game, so there's still a chance that any one of three things could happen.

"We could extend his loan, he could come back here or he could join Grimsby permanently."

Wilcox also revealed that himself and City's assistant manager Steve Torpey have been monitoring the ex-Wales under-21 international's progress in South Humberside.

"Both myself and Steve have watched him play for Grimsby a couple of times and I have spoken to (Grimsby manager) Paul Hurst about him," the City boss explained. "That would be the same with anybody I let out.

"You don't just send them out and forget about them. We've had good reports back and he's proven his versatility there by playing centre-half, right back and in a midfield holding role."

Wilcox added, meanwhile, that Diego De Girolamo will be fit to feature against Plymouth this weekend with the Italian under-20 international striker having recovered from the foot problem that caused him to withdraw from Sunday's 3-0 win at Carlisle during the pre-match warm-up.

Tomorrow's game is the last of De Girolamo's current loan spell from Sheffield United with the Blades having offered the teenage attacker an extension to his contract at Bramall Lane.

But the Sky Bet League One outfit's boss Nigel Clough has suggested he would still like De Girolamo to extend his City stay but only after he has succeeded in making striking additions to his squad during this month's transfer window.

"The fact that they have offered him that new deal shows what Sheffield United think about him," Wilcox said. "But it's important that he carries on playing league football and, if he can't get in their team at the moment, it should be beneficial to all parties if he stays with us and keeps developing because he's still only 19."
