YORK City boss Russ Wilcox has ruled out bringing Bristol Rovers forward Ryan Brunt back to Bootham Crescent before Thursday's 2014 transfer deadline for loan signings.

Brunt was recruited from the Pirates by Wilcox's predecessor Nigel Worthington but was allowed to return to his parent club earlier this month by the new Minstermen chief who had drafted in ex-Jamaican international Deon Burton on the same terms.

But, at the time, Wilcox did not rule out revisiting an approach for Brunt at a later date and Burton's loan switch ended in injury after just two City outings.

The ex-Scunthorpe manager has now signalled his intention to bring in a target man this week, but the 6ft 1in Brunt is not on his current wanted list.

Since returning to Bristol, 21-year-old Brunt has started three games but he was left out of the squad completely for Saturday's 2-2 draw at Chester and has now failed to net in 34 outings.

On a possible second swoop for Brunt, Wilcox said: "I'm not sure about that. We have other targets in mind that we are hoping to hear back from, but it can be difficult to get these players out."

City are also still waiting to learn whether Diego De Girolamo will be given permission to return for a second loan spell at Bootham Crescent by Sheffield United.

"There's been nothing concrete with Diego yet but we are still hoping it will get done in time for Thursday," the Minstermen boss added.

Premier League Burnley, meanwhile, have agreed to let keeper Alex Cisak stay at City, subject to a 24-hour recall clause.

"We have extended Alex's loan until January 4, which is after the home game against Plymouth and that's good for us."
