MICHAEL INGHAM has recovered from a thigh strain in time for York City's SkyBet League Two trip to Cheltenham on Saturday.

The Northern Ireland custodian missed the 1-1 home draw with Mansfield last weekend with the knock but manager Russ Wilcox said he has now fully fit.

It will give the ex-Scunthorpe chief a decision to make ahead of the journey to Gloucestershire, with on-loan keeper Alex Cisak having arrived straight from Burnley to come in between the sticks against the Stags.

While Ingham's return brings even more competition for the goalkeeper's jersey, Wilcox is still light at the other end of the pitch with Wes Fletcher and Jake Hyde continuing to recover.

"There are still one or two (injured) but you will get that at every football club," he said.

"We are hoping to get a few back. Michael Ingham is fine. Wes has done a little bit of work, but not with the group, and we are waiting on Jake Hyde. We have got a few issues at the top end of the pitch and we need to get players back. We are not scoring enough goals."

With lack of a cutting edge a concern, Wilcox has been grateful for the return from Diego de Girolamo, the striker on loan from Sheffield United who netted his second goal in three games last Saturday.

"Diego has the spark and looked like he could create a goal," the City chief added.

"He had a one-on-one chance, which could have been our match winner, and we are just trying to get the ball in the key areas. We did that on two occasions and could have had two goals.

"He is good to work with, he is still a young lad, and he has still got lots to learn."

Assessing his first fortnight in charge at Bootham Crescent, Wilcox said he had seen enough from the squad in their matches to believe they could pull themselves away from the League Two danger zone.

He explained: "We have put some points on the board. We are obviously greedy. Two points were dropped at Morecambe and we have to move on quickly. We have to learn from that the next time we are in the final minutes.

"The performance at Morecambe gives me great belief in the squad that we can win football matches and move forward."
