INJURY-STRUCK Mansfield Town are expected to be unable to fill their bench again at York City tomorrow.

The Stags could only name six substitutes for Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw at bottom-of-the-table Tranmere and striker Alex Fisher and on-loan Derby left-back Kieron Freeman were crocked in that match, meaning Paul Cox will be without eight players for the Bootham Crescent clash.

Fisher has joined fellow forwards Matt Rhead, Ollie Palmer and Liam Hearn in the treatment room, meaning on-loan Huddersfield striker Daniel Carr will probably be given his full Mansfield debut alongside fellow 20-year-old Rakish Bingham, who is the club’s three-goal top scorer this term.

Manager Cox is also currently without centre-backs Luke Jones and Ryan Tafazolli, along with midfielder Chris Clements, while Simon Heslop and Fergus Bell are taking painkilling injections to avoid an even greater injury crisis.

Midfielder Heslop has scored the Nottinghamshire outfit’s only goal during a run of five games without a win.

That sequence has seen the 2013 Conference champions slip to 17th in the table and only bottom-two Hartlepool (nine) and Tranmere (11) have scored fewer Sky Bet League Two goals this term than the dozen Cox’s men have managed.

A defensive record of 16 goals conceded, however, represents the best in the bottom half of the table.

Mansfield are also expected to keep faith with their 3-5-2 formation in North Yorkshire.

Team (probable): Studer, Beevers, Sutton, Riley, Sendles-White, Taylor, McGuire, Heslop, Murray, Carr, Bingham.
