YORK City have spoken to two candidates today for the managerial vacancy at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen have wasted no time in their hunt for a replacement for Nigel Worthington, who resigned from the position this morning.

City’s board now intend to talk to further contenders tomorrow and would like to have a successor installed before Saturday’s home match with Shrewsbury.

The club’s communications director Sophie Hicks refused to reveal the identities of anybody under consideration at this stage but added: “We spoke to two candidates today and we plan to talk to some other individuals tomorrow.

“Our priority is to make sure, we get the right person for York City Football Club and, ideally, we would like a manager in place before the weekend.”

Sky Bet odds on next York City manager: 11/8 Russ Wilcox, 7/1 Steve Torpey, 10/1 Gary Mills, Neil Aspin, 12/1 James Beattie, 18/1 Micky Adams.
