YORK City Supporters' Trust have appealed for fans of the club to turn out in force at tomorrow's community stadium full council meeting.

City of York councillors will vote on whether to give their support for a £4million investment, which is vital to the financing of the project.

The meeting will start in the Guildhall at 6.30pm, but City fans are being urged to arrive early to secure one of the 40 places available in the chamber's public gallery.

For those who cannot get a ticket, there will, however, be an "overflow" room where proceedings will be relayed via a live video link.

Issuing a plea to the city's football and rugby league supporters, Trust chairman Ian Hey said: "The vote on this is absolutely critical for the future existence of York City and York City Knights.

"A 'no' vote by the council could mean, not only no home for the two clubs, but the possible demise of York City. So, let's rally to the call and get down to the Guildhall no later than 6pm to queue for those tickets.

"Maybe, like me, you remember that remarkable open-top bus parade through the crowded streets of York in May 2012 to welcome home a triumphant York City team on their return from two Wembley victories. St Helen's Square was packed with cheering fans as the club manager brandished two gleaming trophies and was congratulated by the mayor and the city council.

"Let's fill the council chamber, the overflow room and St Helen's Square itself to demonstrate again to the council how important the future of our football and rugby teams is to the fans and to the city."
