PORTSMOUTH will travel to York City tomorrow with Sky Bet League Two’s worst away record in front of goal.

The fallen giants have only netted twice in five league games on the road this term and have failed to score at all during their last three trips to Hartlepool (0-0), Southend (0-2) and Burton (0-2).

As a consequence, manager Andy Awford is likely to take action at York with Aston Villa striker Michael Drennan poised to make his first start since returning to Fratton Park for a second loan spell last month.

Veteran 34-year-old forward Patrick Agyemang, formerly of QPR and an ex-Ghana international, is expected to make way, having failed to net in 31 matches – a sorry run stretching back to last December.

Former Rotherham forward Ryan Taylor is another option, having returned to action with a midweek brace for the reserves against Cheltenham following a groin problem, but he might need to be content with a place on the bench.

Talented 20-year-old midfielder Jed Wallace is Pompey’s leading marksman this season with five goals, and Awford is predicted to continue with the 3-5-2 formation he has fielded for recent fixtures.

He will be without centre-back Ben Chorley, who was sent off in the last meeting between the two clubs following a challenge on Wes Fletcher that left the City striker with medial ligament damage.

Chorley has a calf problem, joining right-back Danny East (ankle) and striker Tom Craddock (knee) in the south coast club’s treatment room.

Midfielder James Dunne, meanwhile, should recover from the head injury that saw him replaced 15 minutes into last weekend’s goalless stalemate at Hartlepool.

Oxford are the only side Portsmouth have defeated on their league travels this season following a 1-0 win at the Kassam Stadium but the 2008 FA Cup final winners only lie outside of the play-off zone due to goal difference.

Pompey are also now debt free – a situation that has been achieved two years ahead of schedule – with £7million paid to creditors since supporters assumed control of the club in April 2013.

Portsmouth (probable): Jones, Devera, Whatmaugh, Robinson, Wynter, Hollands, Dunne, Wallace, Butler, Westcarr, Drennan.
