BURTON Albion will arrive at York City this afternoon having taken just one point from a possible 12 on their travels.

Back-to-back victories over Rochdale (3-2) and Southend (2-0) over Christmas at the Pirelli Stadium have propelled Gary Rowett’s men back into a play-off position but their away form has been patchy all season.

Of the Brewers’ 39 points in 2012/13, a total of 27 have been collected from home games with third-bottom Aldershot boasting a better away record than the Staffordshire promotion hopefuls.

Struggling Barnet, meanwhile, are the only League Two team to have netted fewer times in away fixtures with Burton managing just nine goals in 12 matches.

Prior to losing 3-2 at Barnet before Christmas, Albion drew 1-1 against hosts Chesterfield after going down 3-0 to Wycombe and 1-0 to Cheltenham on the road.

Rowett will also need to contend, meanwhile, with the loss of Nathan Stanton for today’s Bootham Crescent clash.

Former Scunthorpe defender Stanton is suspended after being sent off for a second bookable offence during the victory over Southend on Saturday that brought an end to the Essex side’s unbeaten run of 14 games.

As a consequence, Marcus Holness could return to the side if he passes a late fitness test on his groin strain.

Otherwise, loyal servant Aaron Webster will deputise in his 15th year as a Burton player.

Striker Adi Yussuf (groin) and goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson (knee) both remain sidelined with Dean Lyness, who started the season as a rookie, third-choice, 21-year-old, carrying on between the sticks.

At the other end of the pitch, 6ft 3in target man Calvin Zola is the Brewers’ 11-goal top scorer and has netted in each of the last two matches.

Former City midfielder Robbie Weir, meanwhile, will be lining up against his old team having started 30 games this season, scoring three goals.

In fact, the only League match Weir has missed this term was due to suspension and he has now been shown nine yellow cards in 2012/13.

Rowett’s team could also have one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie at Championship outfit Leicester City, who they have already beaten 4-2 in the Capital One Cup this season.

Burton (probable): Lyness, O’Connor, Diamond, Holness, McCrory, Dyer, Bell, Weir, Maghoma, Zola, Kee.
