RACE FOR LIFE: Kirsty makes it four in a row

12:00pm Sunday 28th March 2004

FIFTEEN-year-old Kirsty Law won an exhausting and emotional Race for Life for the fourth year in a row yesterday.

In a winning time of 19 minutes and four seconds she was once again the star of the hugely successful event, which brought thousands to the streets of Worcester.

Running in memory of her grandmother, June Law, who died eight years ago, Kirsty was greeted at the finishing line by brothers Darran and Scott, and sister Trudie.

The Pershore High School student, who was cheered home by a packed High Street, raised more than £40 for cancer research in the process.

"I don't bother too much about checking my time but it's an event that's close to my heart and I do like to do well in it," she said.

And the day went smoothly elsewhere, with few traffic issues, the sun shining and the only problem for the ambulance service was whether they had enough plasters to deal with the inevitable blisters.
