YORK City's search for a first home win in 2014/15 continues following a goal-less draw with Portsmouth.

The Minstermen also suffered a double injury blow with Michael Coulson and Wes Fletcher both limping out of the first-half action.

An uninspiring opening 45 minutes saw Danny Hollands shoot narrowly wide for Pompey after being left unmarked 15 yards from goal following Craig Westcarr’s corner.

At the other end, Wes Fletcher had a credible penalty shout rejected after tussling with substitute Johnny Ertl before poking a shot wide.

On-loan signing Ryan Brunt also tested visiting keeper Paul Jones from 20 yards seconds before the interval.

The Minstermen picked up the pace at the start of the second half with Ryan Jarvis forcing a near-post save from Jones after Russell Penn’s intelligent through ball.

Recalled midfielder Lewis Montrose also headed over from a Marvin McCoy cross.

But, at the other end, ex-England international Nicky Shorey went close with a curling free kick and late chances saw Michael Ingham save well from Jed Wallace and Hollands head over from four yards.

Brunt, though, missed an excellent opportunity to win the match in stoppage time, heading wide from four yards after Tom Platt had met Jake Hyde's cross to the far post.
