Matty Blair times last-gasp push at lead
11:23am Saturday 19th May 2012 in Diary
MATTY Blair has leapfrogged Jason Walker at the top of The Press Player of the Year standings ahead of the season-ending Blue Square Bet Premier final tomorrow, writes Dave Flett.
Just one point now separates the two players with Blair becoming the outright leader for the first time during the campaign.
The 24-year-old winger, left, picked up two points towards the competition as our second-highest rated player during Saturday’s 2-0 FA Trophy final win over Newport.
Wembley’s The Press man-of-the-match Ashley Chambers (three points) and our third-highest rated player Chris Smith (one) were also recognised.
Chambers also received the most man-of-the-match votes from visitors to our website to receive the two bonus points on offer to our May Player of the Month contest, which is led by April winner Dan Parslow.
