York City legends from the last seven decades gathered at Pike Hills Golf Club to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Billy Fenton Memorial Clubman Trophy.
The annual Past Players’ Dinner was also attended by Billy’s widow Margot with Phil Burrows, the first recipient of the award in 1973/74, applauded by fellow former winners Gordon Staniforth, John MacPhail, Chris Topping, Dale Banton, Derek Hood and Scott Kerr among others.
Over the last four years, City’s past players have helped to raise more than £10,000 for charities.
The latest dinner provided donations of £500 made to Diabetes UK and £250 each to Macmillan Cancer Support and the Martin House Hospice’s Goodnight Sleep Appeal.
