DAVID McGurk has taken over from Ashley Chambers as the early leader of The Press Player of the Year standings.

The 30-year-old defender, a two-time previous winner of the award, moved into top spot after receiving two points as our secondhighest rated player during last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Dagenham.

The other points at Victoria Road went to The Press man-of-thematch Lanre Oyebanjo (three) and our thirdhighest rated player Craig Clay (one).

Oyebanjo collected the two Player of the Month bonus points on offer in that competition after polling the most man-of-the-match votes from visitors to our website and Twitter followers.
