DAVID McGurk has closed the gap on The Press Player of the Year leader Richard Brodie to one point.

Former Darlington defender McGurk took advantage of Brodie’s two-match ban to pick up back-to-back Press man-of-the-match awards, earning him a total of six points towards the standings.

At Histon on Tuesday night, the other points went to Daniel Parslow (two) and Levi Mackin (one) as our second and third-highest rated players.

Michael Ingham (two) and Mackin (one), meanwhile, saw their efforts similarly rewarded during the 1-0 FA Trophy triumph over Corby.

Midfielder Mackin has also secured the January Player of the Month honours with Luke Graham picking up the two bonus points towards that contest after polling the most man-of-the-match votes from visitors to our website.

Michael Rankine enjoyed that privilege after the Histon game to leave him one point behind early February leader McGurk.
