TEENAGE striker Flynn McNaughton has signed his first professional contract with York City after graduating from the club's academy.
Scarborough-born McNaughton, 17, made three appearances as a substitute for the first team this past season and was also the leading goalscorer for both the reserves and the under-18s.
The son of former Scarborough FC defender Michael McNaughton, he joins midfielder Harry Thompson and centre-back Josh Rogerson in signing pro terms for the Minstermen this summer after coming through the youth system.
"I am really happy. It's a dream come true," he said.
"If you had said to me at the start of last season that I would be making my first-team debut in March, I would have said, 'No, not a chance,' but everything has fallen into place.
"My aim now is to break into the first team and try to make an impact.
"The first team will be looking for promotion next season and I just want to be part of it.
"I think the manager has made a big statement by bringing in players from the league above and we have got a really strong squad.
"He has told me to come back for pre-season fit as a fiddle and be at the front of all the running. I will have to stake my case in pre-season games."
