YORK City’s National League North clash at Telford United today has been postponed.

The decision to call the game off was made at 9.45am this morning after a referee inspection deemed that a waterlogged pitch meant the fixture was unplayable.

Frost covers had been protecting the surface from snow fall in Shropshire with volunteers having helped clear that in the hope that the game could go ahead.

A Telford club statement added: “Despite the best efforts of club staff and volunteers, a referee's inspection deemed that waterlogging of the pitch under the frost covers made the surface unplayable.

“The club would like to thank all those who gave their time to assist in clearing snow from the covers and also thank York City, their players, fans and officials for their patience and understanding in this matter. A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.”
