YORK City boss Gary Mills is hoping an attacking injury crisis won't disrupt his side's build-up to the start of the National League North season.

League Two Notts County visit Bootham Crescent tomorrow for the last official friendly of City's pre-season, with just a training ground encounter against Bradford City Under-23s to follow next week.

The campaign's curtain-raiser against AFC Telford United, a week tomorrow, remains the focus for Mills and his men.

However, injuries to attackers Amari Morgan-Smith, Louis Almond and Kaine Felix have this week dealt a blow to those preparations.

And, with teenage striker Ryan Edmondson and winger Aidan Connolly also ruled out of the big kick-off, the Minstermen boss is keeping his fingers-crossed that his team comes through tomorrow's clash with the Magpies unscathed.

Midfielder Theo Wharton also joined the injury list this week, suffering an ankle injury in the 9-0 friendly victory at Oakham United, while the club's other longer-term absentees are defender Matt Fry and midfielder Clovis Kamdjo.

That signals a busy treatment room for City physio Mat Johnson with just eight days remaining until the season bursts into life against the Bucks.

Mills remarked: "Theo went over on his ankle a little bit (at Oakham), but not overly bad.

"Amari and Louis picked up knee injuries – Louis in particular should be back on Saturday, but probably not Amari.

"With Kane and his groin, there's three strikers and we don't want to start losing players. I don't think they're anything serious but we don't want to start losing a few players at this stage.

"We've seen a lot of different things from a lot of players this pre-season, but as I've said it's about a week on Saturday.

"We've got Notts County on Saturday and then we've got Bradford U23s on Tuesday at the training ground, just to go over the last few things, and then off we go again."
