JON Parkin's opening double was just one of the reasons to be cheerful for City boss Gary Mills.
The Minstermen's 4-1 friendly victory at Farsley Celtic on Saturday included a brace from frontman Parkin, bookended by goals from Dan Parslow and Kaine Felix.
After convincing Parkin to remain at the club following last season's relegation to National North, Mills was pleased to see the big striker get straight back on the scoresheet.
The manager said: “You’re always happy with goals – they win games!
“It was only a friendly but you like to see that in a side and Jon (Parkin) showed us what he’s about and why we’ve got him here.
"He’s not going to run around here and there but he will get goals and I thought Kaine (Felix) took his well. It was a pleasing day for us.”
