CITY boss Gary Mills has revealed that he will select "more of a structured side" for Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Scunthorpe United.

The Minstermen chief fielded two completely different line-ups for each half of Saturday's 4-1 opening victory at Farsley Celtic.

First-half goals from Dan Parslow and Jon Parkin (2) were added to after the break by Kaine Felix as City kicked their preparations off in encouraging style at Throstle Nest.

And Mills was impressed with what he saw against their Evo-Stik premier division hosts.

He said: “I was pleased with what we got out of the game because we have had a few training sessions and it was time to have a look at them in a match situation.

“We asked them to play in a certain way, we asked them to play with discipline and do certain jobs and they have stuck to their roles. They have all had 45 minutes under their belts and that will also help at this stage.

“It was always the intention to have two different sides for each half for this game and they will have a couple of days off now. Then we go again on Wednesday night against Scunthorpe United.

“That’ll be different because we won’t have two sides for that game. We will have more of a structured side with substitutes that we want to get 30 minutes game time.”
