YORK City have sold more than 1,000 season tickets ahead of the new National League North campaign.

The club moved to express their gratitude at such a show of supporter loyalty following back-to-back relegations that will see the Minstermen playing regionalised sixth-tier football in 2017/18.

Fans still have until Friday to take advantage of the discounted price for season tickets with the club tweeting: “Thank you for all your wonderful support through thick and thin.”

Supporters’ liaison officer Phil Howden, meanwhile, added: “Outstanding support and very much appreciated.”

Elsewhere, former on-loan midfielder Asa Hall has moved to National League outfit Barrow.

The Dudley-born, 30-year-old spent the final three months of last season at Bootham Crescent, making 16 appearances – all starts – while scoring one goal in the 3-0 home win over Braintree on April 1.

Hall – a former England under-19 and under-20 international – was substituted after 69 minutes during the Minstermen’s 3-2 FA Trophy final victory over Macclesfield at Wembley.

That was his final appearance for the club and he was subsequently released by Cheltenham, who staved off the threat of relegation from the Football League during the closing weeks of the season.

Hall followed Cheltenham team-mates Dan Parslow and Amari Morgan-Smith to North Yorkshire last term and the latter out-of-contract pair are still on City chief Gary Mills’ summer wanted list.
