YORK City Foundation are inviting young girl footballers to trials for next season’s FA Regional Talent Club.

Taking place in June, the trials will offer the chance to be identified as an elite female player at four levels from under-10 to under-16 and, then, benefit from a programme that is an integral part of the England Women’s Elite Talent Pathway.

City are one of only 13 clubs in the country to achieve Tier 1 Licence status from the FA and the technical programme is led by UEFA A Licence coach Adie Costello and overseen by an experienced UEFA B and Level 2 coaching team.

The sports science and medical team, meanwhile, includes physiotherapists, performance coaches, performance analysts and nutritionists, led by Dale Forsdyke - the senior lecturer in sports injury management at York St John University.

City’s Foundation Regional Talent Club enjoyed notable success last season, with six players achieving international selection at England national or regional training camps.

Some graduates have also gone on to join FA Women’s Super League clubs like Manchester City, Doncaster Rovers Belles and Durham.

Trials will be held at the York St John University training facility.

All players must have been born between September 1, 2001 and August 31, 2009, whilst also having a home postcode within one hour and 30 minutes’ travel time of the RTC base’s postcode of YO23 2BB.

Having an English parent/grandparent or having been educated in this country for at least five consecutive years are other criteria that need to be met.
