YORK City will play host to a Brackley Town team who have lost just twice on their National League North travels this term.

Along with fallen giants Stockport, 11th-placed Brackley are their division’s toughest nut to crack on the road with Bradford Park Avenue and Tamworth the only host clubs to take maximum points against Kevin Wilkin’s men.

The Northamptonshire part-timers have also been drawn away in each of their four previous FA Trophy rounds, sharing the spoils at Mickleover Sports, Fylde and Stockport before knocking all three out in replays at St James Park.

Wealdstone, meanwhile, were despatched 4-1 on their own turf in the last 16.

In the FA Cup, Brackley also dumped Sky Bet League One outfit Gillingham out 4-3 in a first round replay, having forced a 2-2 draw in Kent.

Top scorer James Armson hit a hat-trick in that tie and 11 of the Saints midfielder’s 20 goals this season have come in cup competitions.

The 26-year-old, former Coventry City academy player and England C international, who has also had spells with Nuneaton and Solihull, netted seven times in the FA Cup and in each of the last three rounds of the Trophy.

Brackley have never been beyond the first round of the Trophy before, having matched their best-ever FA Cup run after bowing out 1-0 to Blackpool in the second round this season.

Tuesday’s 3-1 victory at Gloucester, though, represented their first league victory since a Boxing Day triumph at the same opponents, ending a win-less, seven-game run.

From that side, James Clifton will drop out, as he has played in the Trophy for Nuneaton, including in the last round against the Minstermen.

Ellis Myles is poised to deputise, while former Bury midfielder Shane Byrne is ruled out as he serves the final match of a three-game suspension.

Ex-Solihull defender Jordan Gough is also cup-tied, but former City centre-back Luke Graham will feature and Brackley have a smattering of players with experience in the Football League to call upon.

They are Lee Cox (84 games and one goal for Swindon, Oxford, Plymouth and Stevenage), David Moyo (14 games and one goal for Northampton), Matthew Barnes-Homer (six games for Wycombe and Rochdale) and Adam Walker (two Championship appearances for Coventry).

Well-travelled former Kidderminster and Luton striker Barnes-Homer has returned to the English game at the age of 31, having been playing in the USA fourth division with Wilmington Hammerheads.

Manager Wilkin played professionally for Northampton and Rushden & Diamonds and was Gary Mills’ predecessor at Wrexham, having previously enjoyed eight years with Nuneaton, who he guided into the National League.

Brackley won promotion to National League North in 2012 and enjoyed their highest-ever finish of third the following season, losing 1-0 to Halifax in the play-off final.

Last term, they narrowly avoided relegation and ended the campaign 19th, but Wilkin’s men currently sit 17 points above the drop zone and nine adrift of the top five.

The Saints’ average home crowd is 428 and the likes of ex-Minstermen Deon Burton, Chris Carruthers and Jon Challinor have represented the club in the past.

Former Bootham Crescent manager Terry Dolan also ended his playing days there.

Brackley (probable): L Walker, Myles, Gudger, Lowe, Graham, Dean, G Walker, Armson, Moyo, Diggin, A Walker.
