GARY Mills has insisted nobody at York City should regard an FA Trophy home draw against Brackley Town as a routine passage into the semi-finals.

The Minstermen have been paired with the lowest-ranked side definitely left in the last eight of the competition in a tie that will take place on Saturday, February 25.

Northamptonshire part-timers Brackley are 11th in the National League North table, but knocked Sky Bet League One Gillingham out of this season’s FA Cup 4-3 and have already defeated Mickleover Sports, Fylde, Stockport and Wealdstone in the Trophy.

Former City favourite Luke Graham is also on the books and Bootham Crescent chief Mills said: “Brackley are having a good season and I know their manager Kevin Wilkin, along with a few of their players, well.

“Worcester and Nuneaton have given us an idea of what to expect from the National League North, but going 3-0 up in 20 minutes on Saturday was probably a one-off and, if we have to get a 90th-minute winner to beat Brackley 1-0 but have done our jobs well, I will take that. You always hope for a home draw, so I’m delighted to have got that and it will be no different to any other game in terms of us needing to be mentally switched on and focussed on the job that needs doing.

“Nobody can get complacent and we’ve got a lot of work still to do in the league and in the Trophy. People might look at it as the best draw we could have had but, once you start thinking like that and talking about semi-finals, that’s dangerous.

“You only have to look at the FA Cup this year to see what can happen with teams knocking out clubs three or four leagues above them. We’ve got three weeks to do a bit of homework on them, if we feel we need to, but it will be put to bed for now, as we concentrate on two big league games against Maidstone and Boreham Wood.”

FA Trophy full draw: CITY v Brackley, Boreham Wood/Sutton v Lincoln City, Chelmsford/Tranmere v Barrow, Dulwich Hamlet/Braintree v Macclesfield.
