BARROW will arrive at York City having lost fewer games than any other side in the National League.

The Cumbrians have only been defeated four times this term in the highest echelon of non-League football with Southport’s 1-0 away win in their last league outing ten days ago the only time they have gone down to a side outside the division’s top-nine teams.

Otherwise, fellow promotion hopefuls Tranmere and Dover took maximum points against Paul Cox’s men back in August, while Gateshead enjoyed a 4-1 triumph on New Year’s Eve.

The setbacks against Southport and Gateshead, though, mean that, if the same fate befalls them at Bootham Crescent, Barrow will have suffered three successive league defeats for the first time since November 2015.

Cox’s men are also without a win in four league matches, taking just two points from a possible 12 since winning 4-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge on November 26, although an FA Cup win against Bristol Rovers and FA Trophy triumphs against Harrogate Town and Matlock have been enjoyed in the meantime.

Draws, meanwhile, are responsible for Barrow not occupying a higher league position than their sixth-placed standing – a record of sharing the spoils ten times only matched by tomorrow’s hosts and Eastleigh in the National League.

Barrow came back from 2-0 down to defeat Matlock with three goals in ten second-half minutes last weekend, but Cox made five changes for that match and Euan Murray, Liam Hughes, Paul Turnbull, Ross Hannah and Lindon Meikle could all drop out again.

Former City winger Meikle, who failed to net in 32 outings while on the Bootham Crescent books, has scored just one goal in 21 appearances for Barrow.

Alex-Ray Harvey, Shaun Beeley, Bryon Harrison, Jordan Williams and Dan Rowe are all in line for recalls.

Ex-Stevenage, Wimbledon and Cheltenham striker Harrison – a summer signing from Chesterfield - is Barrow’s top scorer on 20 goals, which is already five more than his previous best season’s haul for Cheltenham in 2013/14.

Ritchie Bennett is also in double figures for the season on 13.

Barrow will be without keeper Joel Dixon and utility-man Andy Parry, who are both ruled out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament damage.

On-loan Wolves keeper Jonathan Flatt, who played the last ten games of Cheltenham’s title-winning campaign last season, has played between the sticks for the last two matches.

Barrow (probable): Flatt, Beeley, Anderton, Livesey, Diarra, Rowe, Harvey, Wright, Bennett, Harrison, Williams.
