YORK City boss Gary Mills has insisted his team will need to visit FA Trophy third round hosts Nuneaton Town with the same mindset that saw off Harlow Town at the weekend.

The Minstermen have received a third consecutive draw against lower-league opposition in the competition following their 3-1 home win over Worcester City and Saturday’s 2-1 triumph on Harlow’s 3G pitch.

But Mills is not under-estimating the threat of National League North mid-table outfit Nuneaton, whose 6-1 second round thrashing of City’s relegation rivals Guiseley represented an eighth victory on the bounce.

“We’re down to the last 16 now and, whatever draw you get, the opposition has merited their place at this stage in the competition,” the Bootham Crescent chief reasoned. “It’s an away tie, but so was Saturday’s and we’ve just to go there with the same mindset to get through to the quarter-finals.

“Harlow had won eight and drawn one of their last nine home games and Nuneaton are on a similar run, but we are confident at the moment and believe we can get results home and away, so we will be going there looking for a win and, if not, we will bring them back to Bootham Crescent and finish off the job here. The ground is OK and tight and, whilst I’m not sure what the pitch is like, the good news is we will be playing on grass and not plastic.”

City have been installed as 14/1 sixth-favourites to win the Trophy that they won in 2012 – the last time they participated in the tournament.

The only all National League tie, meanwhile, in the last 16, sees Macclesfield entertain Forest Green, although Sutton will also meet Boreham Wood if they can negotiate their replay against Worthing.

FA Trophy third round draw (ties will be played on Saturday, February 4): Welling v Lincoln City, Braintree v Dulwich Hamlet, Barrow v Kidderminster, Tranmere v Chelmsford, Macclesfield v Forest Green, Wealdstone v Stockport or Brackley, Nuneaton v YORK, Worthing or Sutton v Boreham Wood.
