FORMER York City boss Gary Mills is set to take charge of his old club for tomorrow night’s FA Cup replay at Curzon Ashton after taking training this morning.
Mills was spotted arriving at the Minstermen’s Wigginton Road training base after a picture was circulated on social media sites of him meeting chairman Jason McGill and outgoing manager Jackie McNamara last night at the Fairfield Manor Mercure Hotel in Skelton.
The future of McNamara remains unclear, although his recent refusals to comment on his plans after his successor was found suggest that he will remain at Bootham Crescent in some capacity.
Mills oversaw a dream Wembley double of Conference play-off final and FA Trophy success as the club reclaimed their Football League status in 2012.
He was dismissed the following season following a run off 11 games without a win, but will now be assigned with the job of reviving the club as the team attempt to win their first match in 31 away games at National League North strugglers Curzon after yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Bootham Crescent.
