BRAINTREE will entertain York City with the National League’s worst home record and having lost their last four games.

New manager Hakan Hayrettin is also searching for his first win and the third-bottom hosts sit three points adrift of a place outside the National League relegation zone.

The Iron have collected four points from a possible 21 on their own turf in 2016/17, with their only triumph a 2-0 success over Aldershot in August.

In fact, the last four visitors to Cressing Road have all left with maximum points, following defeats against Boreham Wood (2-1), Forest Green (1-0), Gateshead (4-1) and Torquay (3-1).

Hayrettin, 46, has overseen losses against Boreham Wood and Lincoln (3-0) after taking over from ex-Welling boss Jamie Day, whose rein only lasted a dozen games.

Day succeeded Danny Cowley after the latter guided Braintree to the play-offs before being poached by Lincoln over the summer.

Ex-Barnet and Cambridge United midfielder Hayrettin has previously managed Waltham Forest, Thurrock and Grays and was a member of John Still’s coaching team at Luton last season.

Day’s last two games in charge resulted in single-goal defeats against Chester and Forest Green.

The consolation, scored by Simeon Akinola against Boreham Wood, was the Iron’s first goal, meanwhile, in four matches with ex-Tamworth midfielder Chez Isaac the leading marksman on three.

Braintree also have troubles at the other end of the pitch, where injures to defenders Jon Ashton (calf), and Jake Goodman (hamstring) led to Hayrettin recruiting 30-year-old George Elokoboi on loan from Colchester.

Jack Cowgill (shoulder) was crocked against Boreham Wood too and Ian Gayle – the first-half replacement in that match – will now start alongside Elokobi who made his debut in midweek.

The team’s goalkeeping position has also been unsettled with four different net-minders during the opening 14 fixtures of the season.

With Sam Beasant suffering a hand injury and his deputy Sam Cowler also crocked, Will Puddy has started the last three games between the sticks after arriving on loan from Bristol Rovers.

Jamie Butler and Ross Fitzsimons have also donned the gloves, but are no longer with the club.

Braintree (probable): Puddy, Braham-Barrett, Elokobi, Gayle, Okimo, Lee, Muldoon, Isaac, Midson, Akinola, Cheek.
