YORK City ladies are holding open trials for their senior and junior teams.

A new under-18 team is being launched for the 2016/17 campaign, running alongside the club's first team and reserve side.

With City's Foundation department having achieved Regional Talent Club Tier 1 status, players are also being recruited from under-10 to U16 level.

The U16s and U14s will be competing against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Sunderland next term, offering a great incentive for any players living within a 90-minute radius of York.

A trial for the senior and U18 teams will be held at Haxby Road's St John Sports Park on Wednesday from 8.30pm and anybody interested should email dale.ycfc@hotmail.com for a trialist form, including their full name, date of birth, playing position and any previous clubs.

Trials for U10 to U16s, meanwhile, are being staged at York College tomorrow and St John Sports Park on Saturday, June 18.

The U10 to U12 sessions take place between 10am and 12pm with U14s and U16s trials run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

To register a place, email yorkrtc.ycfc@hotmail.com or visit www.yorkcityfoundationrtc.teamapp.com and download the Trial Application Consent Form.

City have announced, meanwhile, that the club's former youth development phase lead coach Adrian Costello has been appointed as technical director of the Regional Talent Club department.

He said: "It's fantastic news that York City's Foundation have been chosen as an RTC Tier 1 centre and I am delighted to have been asked to take over as the technical director, building on the blocks established by the previous centre of excellence. I am looking forward to the challenge of developing elite female players and fulfilling their potential."
