I WRITE in defence of York City manager Jackie McNamara.

I think the abuse he is receiving is unfair.

He came in mid-season and inherited a poor squad which he has been stuck with and has plugged gaps with loan players.

Most new managers come in with fresh ideas and a planned revamp of the squad.

Jackie is a vastly experienced manager with a wealth of contacts and, as a result, is in an excellent position to bring his own team in to push for promotion next season.

I don’t agree with this “blame the manager” trend in football and I think Jackie will prove his doubters wrong.
