NEWCASTLE United's Slovakia under-21 international Lubo Satka has now joined York City on loan.

The Press reported a fortnight ago that the one-month deal was imminent and would be completed on the 20-year-old's return from a training camp with his country.

He duly joined up with the squad today, and is eligible to make his debut in tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two encounter against Stevenage.

The defender, who can play anywhere across the back four or as a holding midfielder, has won four U21 caps for Slovakia having also played at U17 and U19 level.

He has one senior appearance to his name for the Magpies' first team - as a 59th-minute substitute for Italian international Davide Santon during a 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Leicester a year ago.

He follows Kyle Cameron as a loanee from Newcastle and his arrival takes City's loan quota up to five - the maximum number permitted in any matchday squad. He also becomes the tenth loan signing made by City boss Jackie McNamara since he took charge less than three months ago.

McNamara previously said of the youngster: "He knows Kyle Cameron from Newcastle and looks very comfortable playing with him.

"He can use both feet, is very relaxed on the ball and reads the game well."

Satka began his career with MFK Dubnica in Slovakia, before joining Newcastle's academy in 2012. He is now the Magpies' U21s captain and under the terms of the loan will still be able to represent that team.
